A single entrance gives you Sinheungsa temple, a 14.6 m bronze Unification Buddha, a cable car to a 700 m ridge fortress and hikes of any length — unusually legible for a Korean national park without a guide.

Rebuilt after the 2005 wildfire, it is one of very few Korean temples right on the ocean. The walk from Hongryeonam hermitage — which has a glass floor over a sea cave — up to the Haesu Gwaneum statue takes about 40 minutes and is all sea view.

A 1 km private beach run like a tropical beach club — parasols, beanbags, sunset DJ sets, SUP and beach yoga alongside the lessons. It is single-handedly why Yangyang became known as Korea's surf capital.

You cross on the galmaetbae, eat ojingeo-sundae (squid stuffed like a sausage) and abai-sundae made nowhere else in Korea, then walk the sea wall. It is also the 'Autumn in My Heart' drama location, which is why it draws Southeast Asian visitors.

The hub of yachting tourism in Gangwon State hosting national yacht competitions, the harbor is equipped with yacht clubhouses and mooring facilities.

Located close to Yeongnangho Lake, the Beombawi Rock is one of the 8 Scenic Views of Sokcho.

Located at Sokcho Beach, Sokcho Eye is a towering Ferris wheel standing approximately 65 meters tall, offering panoramic views of the blue sea, Seoraksan Mountain, and the city of Sokcho.

Known for its shallow waters and clean white sand, this beach is a sanctuary for surfers.

Hajodae Beach, located in Yangyang-gun, is famous for the beautiful scenery of the deep blue ocean, soft sandy shore, a nearby lighthouse, and unique rock formations and stony islets.

This recreational forest is located at the foot of Guryongnyeong Pass, which connects Yangyang-gun with Hongcheon-gun, along Micheongol Valley.

Seoraksan Botanical Garden is a miniature version of Seoraksan Mountain.

LE ONDA Café, situated on the 20 th floor, is an ocean view café in Yangyang, Gangwon-do.

This restaurant serves a variety of dishes made with pine mushrooms. You can, for instance, enjoy songibeoseot jeongol (pine mushroom hot pot) with Korean beef in a shabu-shabu style.

New York Bakery, near the Gyo-dong junction in Sokcho, is the oldest bakery in the area and was selected as a 'Centennial Store' by the Ministry of SMEs and Startups in 2019. It is so famous that nearly every Sokcho resident knows it.

J Bread moved from Daegwallyeong-myeon in Pyeongchang to Sokcho. It sells healthy, fresh bread made with natural sourdough starter, including distinctive items like handmade black sesame oranda, handmade gamtae seaweed oranda and rice salt bread.

Yangyang's surf village: a gently sloping beach break for beginners, 20–30 surf shops offering lessons and board rental, and cafés and bars behind the sand. About 20 km south of Yangyang town, so take a bus plus a walk, or a taxi.

Korea's surf capital on the east coast, plus Naksansa temple on a seaside cliff. Beaches and sights are 10–20 km apart with sparse buses, so plan on taxis or a car.
