A volcanic island with a national-park mountain in the middle, a tuff cone rising out of the sea in the east and black-rock coast, tea fields and stone walls in between.

Getting there & staying

See & do

Seongsan · 해녀의 집 (성산 인근)Haenyeo seafood house (near Seongsan) ✓

Seaside spots run by haenyeo (UNESCO free-diving women) selling just-caught raw seafood — sometimes a live diving demo.

Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak)Seongsan · 성산일출봉Seongsan Ilchulbong (Sunrise Peak) ✓

A UNESCO tuff cone rising straight out of the sea — Jeju's defining silhouette.

Hallasan National ParkHallasan · 한라산국립공원Hallasan National Park ✓

South Korea's highest mountain, climbable in a day — but the two summit trails are reservation-only, which catches people out.

Hyeopjae BeachHallim · 협재해수욕장Hyeopjae Beach ✓

Jeju's postcard beach — white sand, shallow turquoise water and Biyang island floating in front.

Udo IslandSeongsan · 우도Udo Island ✓

A tiny island 15 minutes by ferry from Seongsan — rent an electric bike or hop the loop bus and circle it in half a day.

O'sulloc Tea Museum & fieldsAndeok · 오설록 티뮤지엄O'sulloc Tea Museum & fields ✓

Green-tea fields you can walk into, next to a free museum and the tea-everything cafe — Jeju's calmest photo stop.

Manjanggul Lava TubeJeju City · 만장굴Manjanggul Lava Tube

Not a limestone cave - a volcanic lava tube, with ropy lava floors, wall ridges marking old magma levels, and a 7.6m lava column at the end of the public section. The scale is the point: the passage is often 20m+ wide. There is nothing comparable in most visitors' home countries.

Seobin Baeksa Beach, UdoJeju City · 우도 서빈백사Seobin Baeksa Beach, Udo

The coral fragments turn the shallows an improbable milky turquoise unlike anything else in Korea, with Seongsan Ilchulbong visible across the water. Combined with the rest of Udo - the lighthouse hill, peanut ice cream, cliff-backed Geommeolle beach - it makes a compact, genuinely memorable island day.

Seogwipo · 대포주상절리대Jusangjeolli Cliff

Near-perfect hexagonal lava columns dropping straight into the sea, with waves breaking against them. Geologically striking and the payoff-per-effort is excellent: a flat 300m boardwalk, no climbing, done in 25 minutes.

Cheonjiyeon FallsSeogwipo · 천지연폭포Cheonjiyeon Falls

A 22m fall dropping into a deep pool inside a subtropical gorge, with the whole approach path lined by protected evergreen forest. The night lighting turns it into one of the few things you can actually do after dark on Jeju without a car.

Oedolgae Rock (Jeju Olle Route 7 start)Seogwipo · 외돌개Oedolgae Rock (Jeju Olle Route 7 start)

A solitary 20m basalt sea stack standing offshore, with a short cliff-top path through pine woods giving repeated framed views of it against the open sea. It is also the cleanest on-ramp to the Olle Trail: you can walk 30 minutes or 15km from the same spot.

Eat & drink

Aewol · 봄날카페Bomnal Cafe ✓

The first cafe on Aewol's Handam coastal walk; Jeju hallabong (tangerine) ade and sunset sea views (a K-drama spot).

Jeju City · 흑돼지거리 (건입동)Black Pork Street (Heukdwaeji Geori) ✓

A strip grilling Jeju heukdwaeji (native black pig) with anchovy dipping sauce — a distinctly Jeju way to eat pork.

Jeju City · 올레국수Olle Guksu (gogi-guksu) ✓

A single-item gogi-guksu (Jeju pork noodle) specialist — a uniquely Jeju comfort dish locals queue for.

Dongmun MarketJeju City · 동문재래시장Dongmun Market ✓

Jeju City's main traditional market — hallabong, black-pork skewers and the night-market alley that opens in the evening.

Jeju Dongmun Traditional MarketJeju City · 동문재래시장Jeju Dongmun Traditional Market

Day market and night street-food market in one covered block: fresh hairtail and abalone, live octopus, grilled lobster, hallabong tangerines, plus Jeju-specific snacks like omegi-tteok and peanut ice cream. It is the easiest place on Jeju to eat well without a reservation, a Korean phone number or a car.

Seogwipo Maeil Olle MarketSeogwipo · 서귀포매일올레시장Seogwipo Maeil Olle Market

Best street-food density in southern Jeju: black pork skewers, hallabong tangerine juice squeezed to order, omegi-tteok, fried chicken, and cheap fresh fruit. It is where Seogwipo actually shops, so prices are more honest than at the tourist-facing coastal stops.

Osulloc Tea MuseumSeogwipo · 오설록 티뮤지엄Osulloc Tea Museum

Green tea fields you can walk into, a small free museum of Korean tea history, and a cafe whose green tea roll cake and ice cream are the actual reason most people come. Next door, Innisfree Jeju House lets you buy and make Jeju-ingredient cosmetics on the spot - a rare place where the K-beauty story is tied to a real landscape.
