The heartland of Confucian Korea: a UNESCO-listed village where families still live in tiled and thatched hanok on a bend of the river, mask dances, and the country's best-known jjimdak and salted mackerel.

• From Seoul: KTX-Eum or ITX from Cheongnyangni to Andong in about two hours.
• Hahoe Village is a 30 to 40 minute bus or taxi ride from the station — the shuttle bus into the village is included in the ticket.
• The mask dance festival runs in the autumn; the village itself is a full afternoon in any season.
